Shelter Programs

Kentucky’s Domestic Violence Programs

There are designated domestic violence programs across Kentucky that provide secure shelter for people, including parents with children, who are actively fleeing intimate partner violence. These programs also offer a variety of support services to survivors, both in and out of the shelters.

Program staff support survivors by:

  • Accompanying survivors to court, helping them understand their legal options, and connecting them to legal resources.
  • Offering individual counseling, support groups, and supportive children’s services.
  • Providing case management, safety planning, self-sufficiency planning and services, and referrals to other community resources.

The programs also work to prevent future intimate partner violence through community education, public awareness, and prevention programs.
