Education, Accountability, and Change for the Prevention of Partner Abuse (EACPPA)

Education, Accountability, and Change for the Prevention of Partner Abuse (EACPPA)

EACPPA (Education, Accountability, and Change for the Prevention of Partner Abuse) is the project within ZeroV that seeks to research and follow the best information on practices for intervention services which are provided to people who cause harm.  We seek to implement and improve systems that work toward the goal of zero violence in intimate partner relationships, families, and communities within the Commonwealth.

We are dedicated to the idea that the most optimal programming to mitigate violence by persons who cause harm and change their behavior will be based on objective data, rather than bias and lore. We wish to promote programming that is both ethical and accessible to all. Providing appropriate empathetic education in conjunction with providing accountability for behavior can provide the vehicle for change for people who cause harm to have healthier and more functional interpersonal relationships with others.

EACPPA also implements strategies that meaningfully engage with youth in positive ways to promote healthy interactions in interpersonal relationships, as well as encouraging peaceful ways to deal with problems that arise in simple family situations. We believe that meaningfully engaging with youth includes supporting primary prevention efforts that enhance their access to activities, positive community mentors, and recreation that enhances and motivates healthy relationships.

  • Batterer Intervention Program (BIP)

    Answer

A Batterer Intervention Program (BIP) offers an education-based program that makes victim safety its primary priority, holds offenders accountable, and promotes a coordinated community response to domestic violence. The goal of a BIP is to provide offenders who use violence with the opportunity and skills to change the behavior, beliefs, and attitudes that support their use of violence against intimate partners.

ZeroV is responsible for overseeing the BIP, the certification process for providers, and ensure overall quality and consistency for service providers (both individuals and programs) that work with people who use violence. BIP's existence is required by state law and serves people who have been court-ordered to participate in the program
