ZeroV 2026 Legislative Updates: March 17

March 17, 2026

Last week, ZeroV hosted a legislative luncheon to provide an opportunity for state lawmakers and representatives from ZeroV member programs to connect and discuss the needs of domestic violence survivors and the programs that serve them. Since our last update, we added one new bill to our tracker and updated the status of other bills that are progressing this session. Read on for the details.

New Bills

SB 257 would require additional documentation and reporting requirements for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients. This would make it more difficult for survivors to obtain SNAP benefits, which they may rely on to build a life independent of an abusive partner.

Bill Updates

HB 611, which aims to enhance and refine domestic violence data in Kentucky, passed out of the Senate Families and Children Committee. It now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

HB 338, which creates a process for expunging dismissed eviction proceedings, has passed out of the House Judiciary Committee. It now goes to the full House for consideration. This bill would help survivors who are struggling with financial insecurity and previously dismissed eviction proceedings by giving them a fresh start in their housing search.

You can see all the bills we're monitoring this session, along with brief descriptions of how they affect survivors, in ZeroV’s Bill Tracker. We will update our bill tracker weekly as new bills of interest are filed and relevant amendments are proposed.

About ZeroV’s Policy Advocacy

The well-being of survivors is our top policy priority.

Throughout the legislative session, ZeroV will advocate for adequate funding for domestic violence services. We will also advocate for policies that support the safety, healing, and well-being of survivors, enabling them to thrive. As a service to our community, we will provide weekly updates throughout the 2026 Legislative Session on the status of proposed legislation impacting survivors of domestic violence.

Thank you for staying informed and getting involved!
