SAFETY UPDATE: Temporary Service Plan for Lincoln Trail ADD Now in EffectThe temporary domestic violence services plan for the Lincoln Trail Area Development District (Lincoln Trail ADD) went into effect July 1, 2026. The previous ZeroV member program serving the Lincoln Trail ADD, SpringHaven, Inc., no longer holds the contract to be a state-designated domestic violence program. Survivors in the Lincoln Trail ADD can call 1-877-949-0515 for domestic violence crisis services and referrals. An advocate from GreenHouse17 will answer the call and respond to immediate safety needs, including emergency shelter. The crisis line advocate will then provide a warm handoff to an advocate at the ZeroV member program serving the survivor's county of residence. For more details about the Lincoln Trail ADD temporary services plan, visit https://www.zerov.org/lincolntrail. Lincoln Trail ADD includes Breckinridge, Hardin, Grayson, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, and Washington counties. |

ZeroV Celebrates Passage of The Family Preservation and Accountability ActZeroV joined the Governor, lawmakers, advocates, and community members to celebrate the passage of The Family Preservation and Accountability Act (SB 122), which allows survivor-parents facing incarceration to request an alternative sentence from the courts so they can continue parenting their child. The act's passage is the result of the combined efforts of lawmakers Senator Julie Raque Adams, Representative Jason Nemes, and Representative Nick Wilson, incorporating language from Rep. Nemes’s HB 418. “This language will strengthen our domestic violence and child custody laws by ensuring that the safety and welfare of children are the top consideration in all custody proceedings,” said ZeroV CEO Tisha Pletcher. Among several safety measures included in the act, it will require a parent who has committed two or more acts of domestic violence against the other party to go through court-ordered assessments, treatment, and classes to ensure a child is not exposed to further violence or placed at risk. “By holding abusive partners accountable for their violent and coercive actions, this bill will enhance the welfare of children and support survivors of domestic violence as they work to keep their children safe during and after the process of separating from an abusive partner,” said Pletcher. ZeroV thanks everyone who has made this bill possible: the coalition of organizations that worked on this policy for years; Sen. Julie Raque Adams, Rep. Jason Nemes, and Rep. Nick Wilson for ensuring this bill passed the legislature; and Gov. Andy Beshear for signing it into law. |

Pride Month: Safe Love and Safe Lives For All! |
|
ZeroV believes that everyone deserves to live and love safely and peacefully, including LGBTQIA+ survivors and community members. Domestic violence affects individuals of all identities, including gender identity, sexual orientation, family makeup, and more. LGBTQIA+ survivors often face unique barriers to accessing the support they need to ensure their safety. As Pride Month comes to a close, we invite you to join us in raising awareness about the availability of domestic violence services for all Kentuckians, in support of creating a Kentucky free from violence and violence-free futures for all. |

June Garden Planting Party At ZeroV Housing UnitsIn 2024, a survivor in ZeroV's Housing Program shared her dream of walking out her front door to pick food for dinner. As a dedicated housing case manager and avid gardener herself, ZeroV Housing Case Manager Sandra Dye helped make this survivor's dream come true by gathering materials and hosting a raised bed building and planting day for survivors at ZeroV's Hazard Housing units. Now, Sandra and partners from LKLP Community Action Council host summer garden planting and harvest parties for survivors and children at ZeroV's housing units in Hazard, KY, each summer. This year, ZeroV Housing client Christina had already planted one of the raised beds in the vegetable garden! She also planted something special of her own: a flower gifted to her from her daughter on Mother's Day. On the day of the garden party, survivors worked together to plant the remaining beds with tomatoes, peppers, squash, and zucchini, and added garden decor, including a bird house contributed by Housing client Janice, which she crafted from clothespins. Despite the very hot summer day, everyone had fun, including the kids, who enjoyed a pizza party and a bouncy house! What was once just a survivor's dream is now a sustainable team effort that survivors and their children look forward to every year on their journey to heal from abuse. Thank you to Sandra and LKLP Community Action Council for making these garden events possible each year. And thank you to the donors who support survivors in ZeroV's housing program by contributing to our Survivor Support Fund! |

ZeroV Hill Day: Advocating for KY Survivors in D.C.ZeroV Board President and The Ion Center for Violence Prevention CEO Christy Burch, ZeroV Policy Lead Olivia Spradlin, and ZeroV Legislative Committee Chair and GreenHouse17 Executive Director Darlene Thomas traveled to Washington, D.C. in June to represent Kentucky during the National Network to End Domestic Violence's (NNEDV) 2026 Advocacy Days! There, they gathered with other coalitions and DV programs from across the nation and met with Kentucky's Members of Congress to advocate for policies that support survivors. This year's priorities centered on maintaining steady VOCA, VAWA, FVPSA, and HUD appropriations to support survivors across the United States; passage of the Crime Victim's Funds Stabilization Act; dispersing delayed grant funding; and preventing the consolidation of the Office of Violence Against Women (OVW). ZeroV Self-Care DayThanks to the generous support of The Allstate Foundation, ZeroV staff recently spent a day connecting through team-building and self-care. This work can be heavy, and taking time to care for ourselves is essential. From candle-making and massages to a fun outing at Activate Games, staff had space to relax and recharge. We closed the day by coming back together to share a meal and reconnect as a team. See a video recap of the day on Facebook! We’re grateful for The Allstate Foundation’s investment in the well-being of those who stand alongside survivors every day. |
