Shop & Share 2025: What to Expect

What to Expect Before Shop & Share

Our domestic violence programs’ designated Shop & Share coordinators are here to support your stores, their volunteers, and the community.

Each domestic violence program has its own designated Shop & Share coordinator, who is responsible for coordinating with local Kroger stores, recruiting volunteers, and maintaining the safety and success of local events.

Leading up to the event, your store can expect a Shop & Share coordinator to meet with a store manager and provide them with a store letter detailing the event and who to contact for questions and concerns.

Your stores may also receive stanchion signs to display, which advertise our Shop & Share event.

Typical Shop & Share Communication Schedule

  • December: The designated Shop & Share Coordinator for your store’s event may contact your store leaders about event details and participation.
  • January: The designated Shop & Share Coordinator for your store’s event will confirm your store's participation with store leaders.
  • February: The designated Shop & Share Coordinator for your store’s event will visit your store the day before the event to remind store leaders about Shop & Share.
    • With your store's permission, set-up materials may be dropped off with a store leader to be picked up by set-up volunteers the following day.

What to Expect the Day of Shop & Share

More than 600 volunteers help with Shop & Share at 90+ stores across the state. During our day-long event, your store can expect to see our volunteers inside your vestibules

  • passing out shopping lists,
  • accepting donations as shoppers leave the store,
  • and picking up donations, which are then sent back to the shelter for counting, sorting, and putting away in the shelter pantry.

Each Shop & Share location has a designated Shop & Share coordinator contact. Event set-up and breakdown will be facilitated by Shop & Share volunteers. No action is required by Kroger staff. Volunteers and Store Leaders can contact the coordinator at any time for any questions or concerns.

Minimal action is required of your store. Our volunteers are responsible for maintaining their space, bringing their own supplies, and ensuring the safety of shoppers and volunteers alike.
