GFWC Shop & Share

ZeroV and its regional domestic violence shelter programs, in partnership with the First Lady of Kentucky, Kroger, and other regional grocers, host Shop & Share each February. Shop & Share is a one-day donation drive where shoppers at participating local grocery stores are asked to “shop” for what they need and “share” an item with their local domestic violence program, benefitting their shelter pantry for the year ahead. This year, Shop & Share is taking place on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Since the annual Shop & Share event began in 2008, the General Federation of Women's Clubs Kentucky has played a crucial role in meeting our domestic violence program's volunteer needs and boosting total donations. This single event helps stock your local domestic violence shelter’s pantry for the year ahead, and with the help of GFWC volunteers since 2008, Shop & Share has raised over $5 million in cash and in-kind donations.

Volunteering for Shop & Share

  • Duration of Volunteer Shift: Volunteers are asked to participate in a 1-2 hour volunteer shift on the day of Shop & Share.
  • Volunteer Responsibilities: Generally, volunteers will set up at store entrances, hand out shopping lists, and collect donations as shoppers enter and exit the store
    • Your Shop & Share Coordinator will provide you with:
      • Paper copies of your local DV program's Shopping List
      • A copy of volunteer instructions, including information about handling monetary donations and coordinating donation pick-ups
  • Helpful Tips: Shop & Share Coordinators do their best to set up volunteers in the vestibules or inside the store. However, set-up locations vary based on the needs of each partner store, and there is no guarantee that volunteers will be set up inside the store. Please be sure to come prepared and wear comfortable clothes, shoes, and winterwear in case of cold temperatures.
